Psalm 29 reads as follows from the New King James version of the Bible:

1 Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones,
         Give unto the LORD glory and strength.
 2 Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name;
         Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

 3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
         The God of glory thunders;
         The LORD is over many waters.
 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
         The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars,
         Yes, the LORD splinters the cedars of Lebanon.
 6 He makes them also skip like a calf,
         Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox.
 7 The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.

 8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
         The LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh.
 9 The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth,
         And strips the forests bare;
         And in His temple everyone says, “Glory!”

 10 The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood,
         And the LORD sits as King forever.
 11 The LORD will give strength to His people;
         The LORD will bless His people with peace.

The basis of a personal walk and personal vision is contained in verse three which reads as follows:

The voice of the LORD is over the waters;

         The God of glory thunders;
         The LORD is over many waters.

The symbolism of many waters is that the Lord may have you stepping into many different and diverse arenas, both in the practical sense and in the spiritual sense.

 The many waters could also include the far future as someone can pray now for people and events that could be centuries from now.

People often line up with a certain theory as to what to pursue and often a lot of this might involve money but regardless talents or gifts might easily be overlooked in any given personal approach to things.

There are questions of relationships, where to live, what to do work wise in a given time frame, what courses to study or maybe shift into. There are questions of what talents may be underutilized, forsaken, brushed aside. There are questions as to where to live, where to travel, what to read, what to listen to, what to believe, what to hope, all of which needs to be continually divided and considered in some fashion.

But whatever you do and consider doing you should seek the voice of the Lord for you in this, a voice that indeed arrives from many waters.

Bringing the meaning of the psalm to a personal level can be done, although it can also be seen at the level of the church as a whole as per the last verse where it says the Lord will give strength to his people and bless his people with peace,

Peace and strength are guiding principles to the movements of the Spirit over many waters as depicted in this psalm.

Strength comes into play in some of the descriptions, the Lord may even  break the mighty cedars and  He will divide the flames of fire and who could even approach fire in the mortal sense never mind divide it?

This also goes into prayer itself, the prayers of intercession from the individual or the church have power through the Spirit that can divide the flames of five and can splinter the cedars of Lebanon. Pray power goes into this voice over many waters.

Then more so at personal level, the Lord might be shaking things up in your life as per verse 8 where it says he will shake the wilderness of Kadesh.  You might be traveling along the street of status quo, but the Lord has other ideas for you and the ultimate guiding principles are for your peace and your strength.

Everybody has a divided approach to how they are doing things but the Lord will come into that division in ways that you cannot on your own and divide the flames of fire according to his wishes and plans for you.

This psalm also speaks to how the Lord’s voice is to be heard over the many waters of your life, not just in one specific area or in certain times and places that seem to count for more. Everything counts in the eyes of the Lord for you.

The actions in this psalm indicate movement, and clarity can emerge as these movements take place. The forest is stripped bare, indicating that a new clarity emerges. The birth of the deer symbolizes a new creation of the Lord a dawning of something new and powerful.

The Lord sat on the throne even in the perceived chaos of the great Flood, it was still the voice of the Lord that rules.

You might think things should be divided according to certain protocol and that is just a theory on your part.

A question for everybody is how to divide up your time and efforts and this involves the idea of multitasking as well.

For personal plans and meditation, it is important to ask for the Holy Spirit and the voice of the Spirit on matters of concern and indeed areas that may need to be redivided,shaken up, and stirred in other directions that you might have previously contemplated.

Another whole bigger picture emerges where the Lord may lead you and how that voices travels with thunder over many waters of possibility that indeed you may have deemed impossible without the presence of the Spirit guiding you  in strength and peace.

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today … a Savior is born.”

This exciting announcement is part of “The Christmas Story,” a free Audio Bible program about the birth of Jesus Christ.

“The Christmas Story” is an audio dramatized, word-for-word reading from the New Testament Gospels of Matthew and Luke and is produced by Faith Comes By Hearing, the world’s foremost Audio Bible ministry.  This realistic audio recording was produced using multiple character voices, musical backgrounds and sound effects.

You can enjoy this free holiday program:

Faith Comes By Hearing produced this short, family-friendly program, which runs about 11 minutes, to help people engage in the Bible this holiday season and hear the Christmas story in a dramatic, audio format.

“During this season and during hard times, people are more open to spiritual things and more attentive to their need for God.  Gathering your family around to hear this Bible story is an easy way to share God’s love and message of hope.  You can even start a new, memorable Christmas tradition,” said Jon Wilke, Faith Comes By Hearing spokesperson.

“At the ministry website, www.FaithComesByHearing.com, people can download this Audio Bible program to their personal computer, iPod or listen live,” he said.  “People can also download a free audio New Testament in one of 400 languages.”

Founded in 1972 as a non-profit ministry, Faith Comes By Hearing records and uses Audio Bibles to disciple Americans as well as the world’s poor and illiterate people with God’s Word in audio.

Since more than 50 percent of the world’s population cannot read, Faith Comes By Hearing helps those hear God’s Word in their heart language.  Through innovating industry-leading audio technology, Faith Comes By Hearing has helped people in more than 150 countries hear the Word of God in their own language.  Currently, Faith Comes By Hearing has Audio New Testament recordings available in more than 400 languages.

While on a post 9/11 deployment, Jon D. Wilke began reading the Bible and accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Now he is using his years of print and broadcast journalism experience to serve God.

The Foreigner Woman in Bible versus Quran (2)

This is the second article in the series of "The Foreigner woman in Bible versus Quran".  Few quotes from the first article of this series are given here.

In language, the foreigner woman or the stranger woman is the alien woman or the exotic woman or the outsider woman. However, as determined by the Bible (e.g. 1 Kings 11:1 and Ezra 10:2), the foreigner woman or the stranger woman is the non-Israelite woman.

1 Kings 11:1 (American Standard Version and King James Version)

Now King Solomon loved many foreign women (strange women), together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites;

Ezra 10:2

foreign women of the peoples of the land… (American Standard Version)

strange wives of the people of the land… (King James Version)

Subsequently, any non-Israelite woman is foreigner or stranger women.

This indicates that the women in the Bible are but one of two categories; they are either Legitimate or Foreigner.

According to the inspired word of God (Proverbs 23:27-28 and 5:3-6), the Bible says that the prostitute is a deep pit; the foreign woman is a narrow pit. She lies in wait like a robber and increases the unfaithful among mankind. For the lips of the foreign woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil, but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.  Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to hell; she does not ponder the path of life; her paths are crooked, and she does not know.

These Biblical verses morally insult and put down all the non-Israelite women, the Foreigner ones.

Does this mean that the Lord God authorizes racial discrimination among the women on the earth?

In the entire Quran, there is No foreigner woman or the stranger woman.

Also, there is No foreigner man or stranger man

The Quran (Verse 40:39-40) says:

Truly this ephemeral life of the world is only an enjoyment, containing comforts which will eventually disappear; it does not last, whereas the Hereafter truly is the everlasting abode which will never perish; it is Eternal.

Whoever commits an evil deed shall not be requited except with the like of it; he will be repaid the like thereof.  Whoever acts righteously, whether male or female, and is a believer, sincere in his faith, such shall be admitted into Paradise wherein they will be provided without any reckoning, an abundant provision, [given to them] unconditionally; there, they will be nourished without stint, without measure or limit.

Herein, the Quran does not determine the race, the color and/or the location, etc. of such male or such female.  Unlike the Bible, the Quran does show any racial interest.

According to the Islamic teachings (Quran and Hadith), all human beings are created by Allah; and the best of them is the one (he or she) who believe in His Creator and obey His Law regardless of his or her race, color, location etc.

==================================

The Bible

A. Proverbs 23:27-28 (American Standard Version)

27 For a harlot is a deep ditch; And a foreign woman is a narrow pit.

28 Yea, she lieth in wait as a robber, And increaseth the treacherous among men.

B. Proverbs 5:3-6 (American Standard Version)

3 For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.

5 Her feet go down to death; Her steps take hold on Sheol (grave or hell);

6 So that she findeth not the level path of life: Her ways are unstable, and she knoweth it not.

==================================

The Quran

Verse 40:39-40 (Qarib Translation)

(39) The life of this world is nothing but an enjoyment, but surely, the life of the everlasting life is the stable abode.

(40) those who do an evil deed shall only be rewarded with its like, but those who believe and do good works, either men and women, shall enter the gardens of paradise and are provided for without reckoning.
