"Let us continue to give thanks for each day God gifts us to ...

Psalm 7 reads as follows from the New King James version of the Bible"

 1 O LORD my God, in You I put my trust;
         Save me from all those who persecute me;
         And deliver me,
 2 Lest they tear me like a lion,
         Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this:
         If there is iniquity in my hands,
 4 If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me,
         Or have plundered my enemy without cause,
 5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me;
         Yes, let him trample my life to the earth,
         And lay my honor in the dust.  Selah

 6 Arise, O LORD, in Your anger;
         Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies;
         Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded!
 7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You;
         For their sakes, therefore, return on high.
 8 The LORD shall judge the peoples;
         Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness,
         And according to my integrity within me.

 9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,
         But establish the just;
         For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.
 10 My defense is of God,
         Who saves the upright in heart.

 11 God is a just judge,
         And God is angry with the wicked every day.
 12 If he does not turn back,
         He will sharpen His sword;
         He bends His bow and makes it ready.
 13 He also prepares for Himself instruments of death;
         He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.

 14 Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity;
         Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.
 15 He made a pit and dug it out,
         And has fallen into the ditch which he made.
 16 His trouble shall return upon his own head,
         And his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown.

 17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness,
         And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

The themes generally deals with the ultimately exclusion of the wicked.

 The wicked with fall into the trap that was set for others.

 This psalm shows that the delineation because those classified as evil and those who aren’t might brush up against each other and come close.
T

 The psalmist himself is questioning the possibility that he could be subject to evil devices.

 When you think of this on a mass scale, if giant wars are conducted in this day and age, even the victors might be the victims with the possible environment damage that travels quickly elsewhere and even all over the planet. This would be just another case of traps forming.

 Then for the individual there are pockets of temptations and while they might be overall good, they could get caught up in a given plan for evil and this psalm points out that it later on becomes a trap for the instigators who conventionalized the evil plans.

 So say someone partakes of a financial scheme, the scheming might at first bring them gain but later topple them in some way, as the trap forms.

  Verses 7 and 8 say,” 9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,
         But establish the just;
         For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.
 10 My defense is of God,
         Who saves the upright in heart.

 The point of defense is the Lord, who saves those who are in the path of the wicked.

 A major theme is that the wickedness comes to an end, and this is one key point of this psalm that can be generalized to any trouble and could be a useful tool in a prayer approach.

 In any difficulty that someone is facing, the problems themselves become self contained and it is sometimes hard to even bring an end to the issue even in the prayer approach.

 The storm seems to follow you around.

 The individual can pray not only for an end to wickedness but also for an end to a given difficulty that has just lingered it seems forever. The end of course bring about something positive as well that fills in, maybe the storms end and sunshine appears although somebody may like the storms. The end of relationship difficulties might be a good relationship, financial difficulties would be good finances and so on.

 We can gather from this psalm, that an end or ending can be asked for in prayer and in given cases should be asked for.

 Someone might just be on a less than path, where they could end their hesitation to proceed into the goodness that the Lord is inviting them to.

 An example might be financial difficulties, insight difficulties, understanding difficulties, attitude problems all that could be seen as having an end with the Lord’s grace to end it.

 The second part of the verse is that the Lord will then establish the just. This is a key in that the Lord, in ending difficulties intends to establish something for the just, and what that might be will vary from individual to individual but it is cemented in the ongoing relationship of prayer. The chance to establish or really getting anything good and positive going is from the grace of the Lord towards this. This is the totality, the ending of nearby wickedness and then the establishment of something good from the Lord, whatever it might be.

 And this again goes to the individual who may themselves have dipped into the wicked ways, they need to turn back and then they have a chance for something good to be established by the Lord and there own wicked ways have impeded that grace towards the good that the Lord might have for them.

 Verse 12 says, “ if he does not turn back,” meaning that there may still be chance to turn back.”

 Vrse 7 of psalm 7, with 7 consider a special number, says, “7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You;
         For their sakes, therefore, return on high.”

This is an example of where the argument is given to the Lord, for help and grace for the sake of the maybe the few.

This goes into the Lord’s mercy for a whole city, nation, or world, coming about for the sake of a few and then extending to others who have turned aside from the goodness of the Lord.

 The Lord will do things for their sake, his sake or her sake, depending and it is His choice and doing things for the sake of a few might include quelling trouble in the whole city for the few.

  Verse 11 says, “God is a just judge,
         And God is angry with the wicked every day.”

 There might also be the impression in a way that the Lord will show up on things, one of these days, or some upcoming day, and that the presence of the Lord is not an everyday event or reality in our personal lives or evident as a response to prayer efforts.

But this psalm indicates clearly that the Lord is looking in on things every day.

 We could extrapolate that while he is angry with the wicked every day, he might also be pleased with the just every day

 But either way, it is best to consult the Lord every day and every day is an important day in the relationship with the Lord, and the window in and to that relationship is prayer and meditation to the presence of the Lord.

 The two major themes to bring forth at a more personal level in relation to this psalm is first that the Lord is looking in on your day.

 The second major theme is the idea of looking for an end to a given set of troubles or difficulties, and that the Lord does provide ends to trouble, within his provisions for all things  This realization can result in  a somewhat different prayer strategy, in asking the Lord to bring a certain difficulty to an end, an end provided by Him and from there something good will be established.

 The Lord will establish the just and those who can get themselves back on the side of the just that may have strayed.
